A note from Pastor Eric Huseth, St. Mark's former intern
Greetings from Montana!
Our Savior's has been incredibly welcoming to Abby and me. Our Church Council officially voted to join the Missoula Interfaith Collaborative (MIC) and I am now on the board of the United Religions Initiative who I worked with very closely at the SFIC. Funny how things work out! Abby has been really active in starting a church community garden and is loving her program at the University of Montana. I am going with some kids to Flathead Lutheran Bible Camp this next week before taking two weeks off to go back to Minnesota for some vacation.
I am always thinking about St. Mark’s and wish everyone well!
Support for Pr. Bekah Davis
The church council has set up a designated fund to assist Pr. Bekah with medical and living expenses. If you would like to donate to this fund, please make your check payable to St. Mark's and note Pastoral Fund in the notation. Thank you.
Lands of Luther trip still has room for more!
Join Pr. Elizabeth and Pr. Hans for an 11 day excursion to the hear of Luther's Germany, Oct. 30 - Nov. 9.
We have 26 participants signed up and there is room for more. Our faith will come alive and our appreciation for Luther's contributions to the world will deepen through exploring "Luther Country". If you'd like to receive a brochure about the trip, please contact Pr. Elizabeth to request one. She can be reached at Ekdale@stmarks-sf.org/415 928-7770 ext. 2300

Pastora Norma Castillo at
Cordero de Dios Lutheran Church in El Salvador
The St. Mark's El Salvador committee learned several weeks ago that Pastora Norma from our Salvadoran sister parish Cordero de Dios was very sick in a hospital in El Salvador. We have included her in the prayers of the congregation, and continue to communicate with her family and with others who are working with the Salvadoran Lutheran Church. In July, we sent a monetary gift of $4,605 from the congregation to help with her medical care and other expenses. We have heard that she is out of the hospital but continues to receive medical care. Keep Pastora Norma in your prayers!
Volunteer Appreciation Sunday 9/13/15
Thank you St. Mark's volunteers! Please join in celebration of all the volunteers who contribute to the success of St. Mark's ministries, committees and our community. The dedication, generosity, time and talents of our volunteers are greatly appreciated and their contributions are vital to sustain and grow our community. Please plan to attend services on September 13 when special recognition and thanks will be given to our volunteers and we will celebrate their contributions. Cake will be provided at the coffee hours and we hope you can join in fellowship and gratitude following the services.
Note: We will not be participating in "God's Work Our Hands" on this Sunday.
Founders’ Day at PLTS
Pacific Lutheran Theological Seminary will be having a Founder’s Day celebration with guest speaker Madeline Forell Marshall. Madeline Forell Marshall is a specialist in eighteenth-century literature who has sought to recover the religious dimension and context of eighteenth-century poetry in books and numbers of presentations and articles. The event will be on Wednesday, September 23, 2015 at PLTS Chapel of the Cross. 9am-1:30pm. All are welcome!
Nominations for Committee to Call a New Associate Pastor
St. Mark's is accepting self-nominations for a call committee to find a new Associate Pastor. Please consider being a member of the committee that will prayerfully consider pastoral candidates presented by the Synod, and make a recommendation to the Congregational Council. Nominees must be a member of St. Mark's. Priority will be given to those who were not on the committee that recommended the call for Pastor Bekah, in order to have fresh perspectives.
Council will review and consider the nominees to select the new call committee during the August 20th council meeting. Nomination forms are available in the narthex, or through e-mail from Andrew Sallach. Nominations will be accepted through August 14 at 4:00 pm, send the completed nomination form to Andrew Sallach at sallach@stmarks-sf.org or leave it at St. Mark's office at 1031 Franklin Street before 4:00 pm August 14.
