Adult Forum: Mary Ritter: Confronting Racism Webcast
ELCA Presiding Bishop Elizabeth A. Eaton and William B. Horne II, an ELCA member from Clearwater, Fla., will continue their conversation on racism – a violation of God’s intention for humanity. Joining Eaton and Horne for this conversation are: Judge Yolanda Tanner, an ELCA member who serves as an associate judge for the Baltimore City Circuit Court. Leonard Duncan, an ELCA member who will share his experience of incarceration, poverty and homelessness. Charlene Guiliani, an ELCA member and former police sergeant.

Safe Congregation Training - All Are Encouraged to Attend
Are you interested in learning more about how St. Mark’s keeps our congregation safe for all members - especially children, youth, elders, and dependent adults? Please attend Safe Congregation Training this summer. All staff and volunteers who work with children and youth are required to attend a training every three years. This training is strongly recommended for our ushers and parents. Trainings will be Sunday, June 19 from 8-9:30 AM and Sunday, July 10 from 9:30-11 AM in the Fireside Room. Night Ministry Open House
The volunteers and staff of the San Francisco Night Ministry invite you to attend their annual Open House on Sunday, June 12, from 2 to 3 p.m. at St. Mark’s Lutheran Church, 1111 O’Farrell, between Gough and Franklin Streets, in Heritage Hall.
Our Open House provides a time to learn more about Night Ministry in general, and more about the specific programs that are offered. It is also a good time to explore opportunities to volunteer with us, either as a Crisis Line Counselor or a member of our Daytime Volunteer Corps.
Meet members of the Night Ministry staff, Governing Board members, and current volunteers. Light refreshments will be served.
Women’s Monthly Study Gatherings
All women are welcome to come and study together at our evening and/or morning Women of the ELCA Gatherings. In June our groups will meet on:

All women are invited to come for study at 11:00 and then at noon to eat their sandwich or salad and share fellowship. Drinks and dessert will be provided. Our Bible Study will be on “Treasure in Clay Jars” as found in the June issue of Gather Magazine.

Thrivent & Habitat “Building Blocks” June 16-18
Join Thrivent and Habitat-Greater-SF partnering with homeowners and nonprofits for a 3-day event to revitalize a Bayview corridor at “Habitat Building Blocks: Bayview.” Pick a day! We’ll rebuild fences, paint houses, landscape yards, and make accessibility improvements. We’ll also partner with SF Rec & Park for green work at nearby Adam Rogers Park to trim, clean, and beautify. Donate Flowers in 2016
St. Mark’s members and friends can sign up to donate flowers for the chancel on a Sunday by placing your name on the chart for the Sunday you wish. Your donation can be in memory of a loved one or in honor of a particular occasion. Please go to http://www.stmarks-sf.org/flower-donations/ to sign up on our online chart. If you are unable to sign up online please call the office (415-928-7770).
The donation is $50 and can be paid via check in the offering plate. Please note “Flowers” in the memo of the check. If you would like to submit your payment online please click on the donate tab on the main page on St. Mark’s website and enter your flower donation under the “other” option and write flowers in the box.
Grace Gathering, New Orleans, August 10-13
The 500th anniversary of the Reformation is an opportunity to rejoice in the life-giving, liberating power of the gospel. As part of the observance, we invite you to attend the Grace Gathering, in partnership with the 2016 ELCA Churchwide Assembly. This will be an opportunity to experience the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA) when gathered as the ELCA Churchwide Assembly, prepare for further observances of the 500th anniversary and reflect on how the Reformation can continue to guide us today. San Francisco Pride 2016
Please mark your calendar for Sunday, June 26th for the 2016 San Francisco Pride Parade Celebration. This year’s theme is Pride for Racial and Economic Justice.
We had a great group last year and would love to have an even larger group this year from St. Mark’s walking with our local ReconcilingWorks chapter, the Bishop’s Associate Nancy Nelson, as well as other RIC churches. Come walk the talk of welcome!!
Parade participants can meet with ReconcilingWorks in the Parade lineup on Sunday. **Specific information will be provided when we receive our placement in the parade, a few days prior. We’ll make our way down Market Street spreading welcome and inclusion for everyone!
