HOLY TRINITY
Though the word trinity is not found in the scriptures, today’s second reading includes the apostolic greeting that begins the liturgy: The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, the love of God, and the communion of the Holy Spirit be with you all. In the gospel Jesus sends his disciples forth to baptize in the name of the Father, and the Son, and the Holy Spirit. More than a doctrine, the Trinity expresses the heart of our faith: we have experienced the God of creation made known in Jesus Christ and with us always through the Holy Spirit. We celebrate the mystery of the Holy Trinity in word and sacrament, as we profess the creed, and as we are sent into the world to bear witness to our faith.

ST. MARK'S YOUNG ADULT GATHERINGS
If you consider yourself to be a young adult (single, couple, or parent) and would like to connect with other young adults in the congregation, a lunch gathering has been scheduled for Sunday, June 18 at 12:30 p.m. in the Fireside Room. Along with getting better acquainted with one another, we will be in conversation about how we might want to be in fellowship with one another on a more intentional basis. Please let Pastor Ron know if you are interested in participating in this gathering.
APPLY FOR A GRANT TO FURTHER ST. MARK'S MISSION
St. Mark’s Endowment Fund distributes grants to further our ability to do God’s work with our hands, both locally and around the world. Because the Endowment Fund supports projects specifically outside of the congregation’s annual budget, these grants help to bring new ideas for how we serve our community. Now is the time to apply online for 2017 grant funding. Visit http://www.stmarks-sf.org/endowment/ to learn more and fill out an application.

ELEVATOR PROGRESS AT ST. MARK'S
Construction of our elevator is continuing to move steadily forward. However, some things are more visible and rewarding than others. A milestone was reached on June 2, 2017. Plant successfully placed the concrete for the mat slab. This is the base of the elevator building, and in a sense the corner stone. Though it is difficult to see beyond the construction barriers, it is a rewarding achievement for all who have worked hard to satisfy the Building Department’s requirements. More visible and rewarding for all the congregation to see is the refinishing of the Church front doors. They have been restored to their original grand appearance and provide a fitting welcome to all visitors.
JOIN ST. MARK’S AMMPARO EMAIL LIST!
This spring our church joined the roster of ELCA Welcoming Congregations that provide pastoral (and sometimes physical) accompaniment to migrants. The Welcoming Congregations program is a part of AMMPARO, the ELCA’s effort to serve migrant children and families who are forced to flee their communities because of violence, poverty, environmental displacement, or lack of opportunities in El Salvador, Honduras, and Guatemala. You can stay informed of learning, advocacy, and service opportunities by getting on St. Mark’s email list for AMMPARO. How? Email ammparo@stmarks-sf.org or rose@stmarks-sf.org, or talk to Cora Rose at coffee hour.
