Welcome to Saint Mark’s Lutheran Church!

Jesus said: “Whoever welcomes you welcomes me, and whoever welcomes me welcomes the one who sent me.” Matthew 10:40

St. Mark’s Lutheran Church seeks to be a place where all people encounter the living God and the reconciling Gospel of Jesus Christ. We are an open and affirming community and welcome people of all walks of life who are looking for a spiritual home.

Getting Connected

Prospective members, new members, and “seasoned” members meet throughout the year in Journeys in Faith gatherings. These five-month cycles, which happen twice a year, provide an opportunity for participants to build community, share faith stories, and explore the large questions about God, Jesus, the church, and Lutheranism.

Perspectives on Journeys in Faith: different people involved in Journeys in Faith describe their experiences in this video.

Journeys in Faith is based on the historic catechumenate, which has the same root as the word catechism. This model of “creating Christians” was lost to the church until the Second Vatican Council, when the Roman Catholic Church formulated the Rites of Christian Initiation of Adults (R.C.I.A.). In the past decade, Lutheran churches have adapted the R.C.I.A. approach to baptism and affirmation of baptism.
